Welcome from the pastor
Family. Here at Des Moines Mennonite Church, we do our best to bring this word to life in our community. While most of us are not related to each other biologically, we care for one another and share our lives together in worship, service, and fun. We work and we play together. We cry and we rejoice together. We worship and we pray together. We challenge one another in our Christian journey and encourage each other to use the gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit. Now, just as in any family, things don’t always go perfectly, but there is always an abundance of grace to go around. As a pastor and fellow follower of Jesus, I invite and encourage you to explore and engage the process of maturing in Christ with the community at Des Moines Mennonite Church. There is always room for more at our table!
Karen Dalke grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas. After sensing a strong calling from God in 2007, she quit her job of 12 years and enrolled in the Pastoral Ministries Program at Hesston College in Kansas. After graduation, Des Moines Mennonite Church called Karen to become their pastor, and she began ministry there in September 2009. In June of 2012, she was officially ordained by Central Plains Mennonite conference. In addition to spending time with her three beautiful grandchildren, Karen enjoys reading, taking long walks, and volunteering as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for children.
Karen and her husband Randy have been married for nearly 40 years and have two grown sons.
