Mennonites are a group of Christians who desire to follow the teachings of Jesus. We are focused on serving Christ in community, working to bring about the kingdom of God in peace, nonviolence, service, and social justice. A denomination of the Protestant church, Mennonites and other Anabaptists originally branched off of other reformation movements over their insistence that scripture and the life of faith should be viewed through the lens of Jesus, especially his practice and teachings on justice and peace. Today, Mennonites worship and serve and live in communities all over the world, including our amazing city here in Des Moines.
Although we are a Mennonite church, DMMC is a diverse community, where many backgrounds are represented. We strive to welcome all people, listen to different perspectives, and find common ground. We are united by a desire to follow Jesus together, serve our city, and make the world a better place. |
